About Us

Our MissioN

Northern Light Learning Center (NLLC) is a non-profit, non-sectarian organization. Our primary purpose is to build a cooperative learning community that expands the educational and social opportunities for homeschoolers and homeschooling families in the Tompkins County area. We coordinate a regular schedule of classes and events and organize shared homeschool resources. NLLC is a safe and supportive environment. Here, adults and children of all ages can share their lives and learn together in ways that are fun, engaging, and meaningful. Join us!

What Does it mean to be a part of a homeschool cooperative?

A homeschool cooperative is made up of several families that work together to provide their children with educational and social opportunities. At Northern Light Learning Center (NLLC), all members are asked to share in the work of running our co-op. This work can be large or small, depending on what your schedule can accommodate, and may take many forms, including: coordinating a club, managing the NLLC Facebook page or website, teaching a class, serving on the board, organizing a field trip or NLLC event, or providing assistance with the operation of the co-op (for example, helping with clean-up during class days). The more help we get from our members, the more smoothly things will run!

Meet Our Board

The NLLC board members are members of the NLLC community. Any Northern Light Member is eligible to be elected to the board. In addition, we have several opportunities for Northern Light Members to take part in, including NLLC Committees, leading classes, organizing field trips, organizing get-togethers and community building events!
